Gratitude

{here's a song that I heard last night from my beautiful friend Gabi, and it's relevant, and poignant, and should be shared}

Gratitude
Nichole Nordeman

Send some rain, would You send some rain?
'Cause the earth is dry and needs to drink again
And the sun is high and we are sinking in the shade
Would You send a cloud, thunder long and loud?
Let the sky grow black and send some mercy down
Surely You can see that we are thirsty and afraid

But maybe not, not today
Maybe You'll provide in other ways
And if that's the case . . .

We'll give thanks to you

With gratitude

For lessons learned in how to thirst for You

How to bless the very sun that warms our face
If You never send us rain

Daily bread, Give us daily bread
Bless our bodies, keep our children fed
Fill our cups, then fill them up again tonight
Wrap us up and warm us through
Tucked away beneath our sturdy roofs
Let us slumber safe from danger's view this time

Or maybe not, not today
Maybe You'll provide in other ways
And if that's the case . . .

We'll give thanks to you

With gratitude

A lesson learned to hunger after You

That a starry sky offers a better view if no roof is overhead
And if we never taste that bread...

Oh, the differences that often are between
What we want and what we really need

So grant us peace, Jesus, grant us peace
Move our hearts to hear a single beat
Between alibis and enemies tonight

Or maybe not, not today
Peace might be another world away
And if that's the case . . .

We'll give thanks to you

With gratitude

For lessons learned in how to trust in You

That we are blessed beyond what we could ever dream

In abundance or in need
And if You never grant us peace
But Jesus, would You please . . .

THOSE days.

Today was just one of THOSE days.
you know the ones I'm talking about?
no... not those bad ones.

The ones where you wake up in the morning at just the right time, look out the window to see the sun gloriously shining down on your awful looking college campus....
The ones where you walk outside and have to take OFF your jacket because it's so warm outside....
The ones where you get to wear a tanktop and cardigan again (oh, world... it's been so long)....
The ones where you just feel like skipping and running {but at the same time NOT running at all...because you don't want to miss a thing} and smiling and saying hi to everyone you pass, because you want them to be as happy as you are....
The ones where you decide to flop over the top of couches instead of walking around like a normal human being {because hey today totally called for that}.
Today was one of those sitting-outside-on-the-grass-hill days... the taking-a-walk-around-campus days... the hey-lets-go-to-fallbrook-because-its-so-gorgeous-outside days...
Those days that make you feel guilty if you're sitting inside....
Those days that give you just the right kind of pick-me-up in the middle of midterms week.
Those days that remind you how good it feels to be genuinely joyful!!! the same days that remind me that I shouldn't let the weather, of all things, determine my demeanor....
Those days that just remind me how there is someone  up there in heaven who really loves me, and made today JUST for me :)

SO,
dear sweet today,
it was great getting to know you...
you're awesome.
let's do this again soon.

Love,
